Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know before sending or carrying a parcel between Europe and the Maghreb.
Sending a parcel
How much does it cost to send a parcel to Tunisia or Algeria?
The price is set by the carrier, usually between €3 and €8 per kilo depending on destination, season and route. Posting your listing and receiving offers are free: you only pay if you accept an offer.
How long does a parcel take to arrive?
It depends on the carrier's trip. By air, a parcel typically leaves within 3 to 10 days of the agreement and arrives on the day of the flight. By road or sea, allow 5 to 15 days. You always see the travel date before accepting an offer.
What if my parcel is lost or damaged?
HeyColis connects senders and carriers: the transport itself rests on the agreement between you and the carrier, so they are your first point of contact. The time-stamped photos taken at handover evidence the condition of the parcel at departure. Report any incident to us: we step in with the carrier and a profile at fault can be suspended. Insurance cover is being put in place; until it is active, do not send high-value items.
Can I send medicine?
Only medicine accompanied by a prescription in the recipient's name, and in quantities consistent with personal use. Medicine intended for resale is prohibited.
How does the recipient collect the parcel?
Handover is in person, at a place and time agreed in the app's messaging. The recipient confirms receipt in the app, which closes the shipment and lets both parties leave a review.
Payment and safety
How does payment work?
Payment is settled directly between you and the carrier, on the terms you agree together in the messaging: on handover, on delivery, or split in two. HeyColis does not collect your payment and takes no commission. Always agree the amount and the timing in writing in the messaging before handing over the parcel.
How are carriers verified?
Each carrier submits an ID document and proof of travel before they can publish a trip, on top of delivery history and public reviews left by senders.
Can I cancel after accepting an offer?
Yes, as long as the parcel has not been handed to the carrier. Tell them as early as you can in the messaging: late and repeated cancellations lower your reliability score.
Customs and prohibitions
Do I need to declare my parcel at customs?
For a personal shipment between individuals with no commercial value, no prior declaration is required in most cases. Above certain value thresholds, or for new goods in quantity, duties may be due on entry. Always state the real value of the contents in the app.
Which items are prohibited?
Cash, narcotics, weapons, explosives, flammable or corrosive products, counterfeits, live animals, and medicine without a prescription in the recipient's name. The full list is on the "How it works" page.
Can I send food?
Dry, factory-sealed products are generally accepted. Fresh produce, meat and dairy are restricted on entry to both the European Union and the Maghreb: check before sending.
Carriers
How do I become a carrier?
Download the app, create a carrier profile, submit your ID and proof of travel, then publish your trip with the kilos available.
How much can I earn per trip?
With 20 kg available and a rate of €6 to €10 per kilo depending on the corridor, a trip commonly brings in €120 to €200. You set your price freely.
Am I responsible for what I carry?
That is why the contents of every parcel are checked and photographed in front of you before sealing. You may refuse any parcel whose contents do not suit you, with no justification needed.
